Our Kiln Dried and Seasoned Logs
All of our timber is seasoned until it is under 20% moisture – kiln dried logs will be less than that. Our stock is ‘Wood Sure Ready to burn’ and so is ready for your wood burner or open fire. All of our wood is locally sourced cutting down on our carbon footprint.
All of our wood is sourced as locally as possible from surrounding landowners and forestry thinning processes. The firewood is cut and split at our premises and stored, to dry out, in well ventilated barns. Our kiln (Eco Angus Orligno 60Kw gasification log boiler) produces dried wood and we use waste from our production process to heat it. The kiln boiler and fans are powered using solar panels to further lower our carbon footprint. The logs take a week to kiln dry. All of our wood is as sustainable and produced with as low carbon emissions as possible.
Kiln Dried
The logs have been placed in a large heat and humidity controlled kiln and left for seven days until the moisture content reaches the desired levels of under 20% – (when tested the logs are routinely under 15%). The high temperatures of the kiln draw the moisture out of the logs quickly and easily.
Kiln dried logs are more expensive than traditional air-dried logs due to the higher efficiency and quality that they offer – so much so that one kiln dried log can possibly provide the same amount of heat as two regular seasoned logs – this is where the true value of kiln dried logs is. No matter what month or season we’re in, you can always guarantee we will have kiln dried logs available for you.
There are four main sizes of load:
Barrow Bag, Builders Bag (delivered via crane truck) – 1.2 cubic meter and 2.4 cubic meter loads (double load). Logs are 230mm x 250mm
